Hamworthy Park
Phase One (the new toddler play area) opened on Thursday, 24th May 2007
This is two-phase project at Hamworthy Park to create a completely new toddler play area for the under 8 age group (Phase One) and refurbish the existing children's play area (Phase Two).
The fencing around the paddling pool enclosure was moved to create a good sized area to accommodate the new toddler play area.
Early in February 2007 the Contract for Phase One was let to Proludic, a French-owned company with a UK base in Nottingham. The start date was delayed due to wet ground conditions but work finally commenced on Monday, 16th April and was completed 6 weeks later.
Proposals are in place for Phase Two - the complete refurbishment to the old children's play area with new equipment for 9-14 year olds to replace the rather exhausted facility that stands there now. An application for Planning Obligations Funding was approved in February 2008 and Tenders are due to be invited from a range of play equipment suppliers.
The image above indicates how the project will develop.
