Branksome Rec Play Area Two
Branksome Rec. Play Area

The fenced play area includes junior and cradle swings, a multi-person raft springer, a small spinner bowl, supplied by Kompan,  a roundabout and a large climbing frame with slides all situated in safer surfaced areas where applicable. This playground is suitable for children between the ages of 3 to 14 years old

The tarmac surface has been painted with early learning games to add to the play and learning experience for younger children.

Immediately outside the fenced play area is an exciting new climbing wall installed in 2008 - the first of its kind in Poole.  At 3m high the wall comprises four separate boulders, two linked by a spiders web climbing net, supplied by Hags-smp.  It is installed into an area of rubber surfacing, and is designed for unsupervised use by anyone over 6 years of age, whatever their climbing ability.

The play equipment in this play area was manufactured and installed to comply with current safety standards applying at the time of installation and all items of equipment are provided with a safer surface where required.

The play equipment and the immediate surrounding areas are inspected on a regular basis. An annual inspection is also carried out by an independent qualified organisation that prepares a safety audit and a report to enable the Council to plan long term maintenance and renewal.

This play area is accessible from a good footpath system and we encourage the use of all our facilities by everyone, whatever their abilities.

STOP PRESS

On Monday 20 April 2015 this play area will be CLOSED for a period of 18 working days so that work can commence to replace the old climbing frame and roundabout. The new equipment will include the borough's first "Simulator" supplied by Wicksteed Leisure. This unit allows some users to sit while others can stand around the edge of the seat, while the unit rocks and spins.

Prior to the above works the site will be pressure washed and while the installation work continues the swing frames will be repainted inproving the general appearance of the site.

WATCH THIS SPACE!!

Pictures will be added of the new equipment when installion is complete.

Temporary signage will show alternative local play areas for families to use during the period when the play equipment will be out of action.
