Community Lunches
Lunches are held by the community development team, lunch is provided together with tea/coffee and provides an ideal venue for local people, groups and practitioners to network with each other. They are open to anyone living or working in the specified area, it gives participants the opportunity to be involved in their community and gain an understanding of what's going on in their local area. Community Development Team
The Community Development Team is comprised of Community Development and Community Liaison Officers. The team are available to offer support and guidance to individuals wishing to start a volunteer based group and to already established groups who are looking to apply for funding. They are able to bring communities together to share information and keep residents informed about changes and movement in their community. The team has strong links with the residents and practitioners in their community and offer a great knowledge about who's doing what, if they don't know they'll be able to sign post you to someone who does.
Community Development Officers
The Borough of Poole has two Community Development Officers, one having a specific role to carry out within Canford Heath and Creekmoor and the other in Poole Town centre, Penhill, Canford Cliffs and Parkstone. However they also get involved with groups and organisations borough wide. They assist new groups in starting up and helping them to get off the ground. The BoP have a small mini grant system to support this work and is always keen to hear of new ideas, groups or projects.
The Community Development Officer's are also responsible for the administration of the Council's annual grant application process which is now open, application forms will go out in the post to all voluntary organisations within Poole. If you have not receieved one please call in and ask for one to be sent out to you.
Another responsibility is sitting on the panel for the Safer Neighbourhood Teams for their respective wards, these duties include identifying three priority areas through community engagement and tackling them to find a solution. This process is ongoing and new priority areas are established on a six weekly basis by the joint partnership work of the Safer Neighbourhood Panel.

Community Liaison Officers
The Borough of Poole currently has two Community Liaison officers, one for Alderney, Newtown and Branksome and the other covering Hamworthy, Penhill, Canford Cliffs and Parkstone. There is a drop in surgery on the last Friday of every month at Rossmore Library, this gives all members of the community the opportunity to discuss issues one on one, these can be resolved or advice given to individuals wishing to start up a group or charity. Also there will be a surgery for Hamworthy residents at Hamworthy Library on the 12th September and 10th October from 10.00-12.00.
The role includes supporting and assisting individuals, groups and organisations to get involved in their local community and to address the issues affecting them. Responsibilities also include sitting on the panel for the Rossmore & Alderney Safer, Newtown & Branksome, Hamworthy, Parkstone, Penhill and Canford Cliffs Neighbourhood Teams, working with the police the team aims to engage with the all community groups in the area through surveys and face to face discussions to establish three main concerns for local people. These priority areas or concerns will then be addressed and tackled, once this is done the team will feedback to the community and start the process again.
