CCTV
Mission Statement
"To inspire public confidence by ensuring that all CCTV cameras and systems which are linked to the Borough of Poole control room are operated in a manner that will secure their consistent effectiveness and preserve the civil liberty of law abiding citizens at all times."
Joint CCTV Initiative
We are pursuing a joint CCTV initiative aimed at reducing crime and the fear of crime in the principal public, residential and business areas of the borough. The central feature of this initiative is the Borough Operations Centre ( BOC), a 24 hour, manned CCTV control and monitoring room facility.
The CCTV control room is permanently staffed (24 hours each day, 365 days each year) by our employees.
CCTV System Equipment
High quality Pan, Tilt and Zoom (PTZ) cameras are generally provided within the CCTV surveillance areas. Depending upon their location and purpose, these will be either pole or building mounted, high sensitivity, low light colour cameras with external quality housing and high quality 1:10 or 1:14 zoom lenses.
The transmission of camera pictures to the control room and the transmission of camera control signals will be via fibre optic or hard wired links, although future camera connections via high quality microwave transmission or new technology applications are possible.
