UPDATE: Thursday 19th January
The provision has now been triggered due to the cold weather.
Severe Weather Emergency Provision (SWEP)
If the temperature drops to zero degrees or below for three consecutive nights or more the council have a responsibility to offer emergency housing to people who are rough sleeping. This is to reduce the risk of death due to the severe weather.
The provision consists of 10 spaces at the Gateway Church, 133 Alder Road, Poole, BH12 4AA. Pick up will be at 8.30pm at the Salvation Army car park, New Orchard Street, Poole. After this time, the rough sleeper will need to make their own way to the church.
Support staff will be on site throughout the night and a hot meal will be provided.
Verified rough sleepers are able to access the shelter from 8.30pm.
Doors close at 10pm, there will be no access to the shelter for the evening, after this time.
You can also contact the Borough of Poole’s out of hours department after opening hours on 0800 506050.
