Public Health Dorset ensures there are treatment services within the Poole area to support people who misuse drugs and/or alcohol.
The Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset Drug and Alcohol Strategy seeks to improve people’s wellbeing, increase their chances of recovery from substance misuse, and help ensure they are safe.

Together with the service providers, we work closely with Poole Service Users Forum to ensure the needs and opinions of service users are part of current service development and the establishment of new services.

Public Health Dorset arranges the Pharmacy Needle Exchanges across Poole which supply needles and sharps collection containers, to minimise the risk of infection, free of charge. However, a full range of drug equipment, including for steroid users, advice and information is available through the specialist confidential Harm Minimisation Clinic at PACT.
They will also test and immunise against blood borne viruses. Blood borne virus pre and post test counselling is available from the Steven James Practice.
