Poole Teenage Pregnancy Partnership

The Poole Teenage Pregnancy Partnership aims to help young people avoid unplanned pregnancies and to reduce their risks of contracting sexually transmitted infections (STI’s). The Partnership encourages and enables teenage parents to access a broad range of support services, and to engage with education, training and employment to reduce the risk of long term social exclusion.

Services available to you

There are Youth Advisory Clinics across the area providing the full range of sexual health and contraceptive services for young people up to twenty one years of age.

The partnership funds a specialist school and youth advisory project nurse based at Rossmore Community College who provides daily drop-ins within the school, a weekly health drop-in at Bourne Valley Youth Centre, and two youth advisory sessions at Rossmore Community Library/learning Centre.

A ‘condom card’ scheme has been launched by the partnership at various venues across Poole including some Youth Centres and the Quay Advice Centre allowing young people to get free condoms from places they regularly visit for other support.

The Partnership also supports a group for Young Parents & ‘Young Parents-to-be’ at the Quay Advice Centre each Friday with regular input from the school or youth advisory nurse and a midwife.
