Blake Hill Viewpoint is located between Elgin Road, Blake Dene Road and Blake Hill Crescent and is popular with local dog walkers, children (often with bicycles) and pedestrian walking to the viewing area. The site consists mainly of Pine woodland with rhododendron and young broad-leaved trees.
There are five entrances onto the site, the main one being from Blake Hill Crescent. A footpath from this access point passes a large wooded crater (thought to be the result of clay extraction for a local pottery) and leads to a viewpoint with impressive views over the harbour, towards Brownsea Island and the Purbecks. Two benches are located at this highest point, which is approximately 30 m above sea level. Two further access paths join onto the circular path from Blake Dene Road and Elgin Road.
