Dog Waste Bins

Online Services

There are over 430 litter bins and dog waste bins provided in:
  • Parks
  • Recreation Grounds
  • Housing areas.

We have over 1000 litter/dog bins in total throughout the Borough. As of April 2008 all general waste bins will accept bagged dog waste. Bins are cleaned and emptied as regularly as necessary to ensure they do not smell, attract unwanted insects and animals and do not become over full. During May to October bins are emptied at least three times a week and a minimum of twice weekly at all other times.

Damaged or missing litter or dog waste bins should be reported to the Council. Where appropriate these will be repaired or replaced as soon as possible.

To request a new litter or dog waste bin, please contact us and provide location details.

During 2008 ageing bin stock will be replaced with new dual containers as part of our 'Recycling on the go' scheme. The new black and blue coloured units are branded in line with the highly successful doorstep waste collections that are well known to the people of Poole, providing opportunities for residents and visitors to dispose of their street waste more responsibly than at present.

The blue recycling section of the bin accepts cardboard, glass, plastic bottles, paper and cans, whilst the black litter side is for general waste including bagged dog waste. The containers also feature an ashtray and stubbing plate for disposal of cigarette ends that mirrors the recent 'Stub It, Bin It!' campaign.

Hard surface maintenance relates to the cleaning of:

  • Paths
  • Drying areas
  • Garage blocks
  • Paved areas

22 hectares (55 acres) of surfacing are scheduled for maintenance and 339 hectares (838 acres) of land is scheduled for litter collection. This allows for additional collection above and beyond that carried out during routine maintenance.

Please note that cleaning and litter collection on pavements, verges and roads is done as part of street cleansing work.
