During 2007 the construction of a Parkdale play & leisure rebound wall with a football skills panel and a basketball hoop on a tarmacadam base in the field adjacent started the improvements in and around this play area.
In 2008 the original St George's play area was completely refurbished, with an additional range of equipment including new Playdale junior and cradle swings, a Proludic maxi slide, a Sutcliffe Play small rocking and rotating dish, a low-level balance tail and a train and a station supplied by Fawns to encourage role play, a Setter "Ant Hill" climbing frame with slide, a small Timberplay see-saw and adventure play for children in the fenced dog free grassed area.
New pedestrian gates supplied by Medway completed the refurbishment, the site now offers a wide play experience for local children aged between 3 to 18+
The play equipment in this play area was manufactured and installed to comply with current safety standards applying at the time of installation and all items of equipment are provided with a safer surface where required.
The play equipment and the immediate surrounding areas are inspected on a regular basis. An annual inspection is also carried out by an independent qualified organisation that prepares a safety audit and a report to enable the Council to plan long term maintenance and renewal.
The site is easily accessible from Staple Close Lane, Worgret Road and Johnston Road. Limited parking is also available on these roads.
We encourage the use of all our facilities by everyone. Please let us know if you have any suggestions on how we could improve this facility for you.
