This playground was improved as part of the play builder project and was opened on the 13 October 2011 - read more about Playbuilder projects.
Changes included the removal of the old play house inside the fenced play area which was replaced with a new multi-use climbing frame incorporating some items to encourage role play and a four seat springer. On the outside of the fenced area a "Fenland" multi directional buddy swing, a Playdale "Congo" jungle climbing unit and a cable way have been installed.
Local children who ride BMX bikes also requested a cyclogym circuit supplied by Proludic and designed by members of the local youth club.
A Lightmain "Upton" youth shelter financed by Poole Housing Partnership was a later addition to complete the area. The play area is suitable for children aged 3 to 18+ years old.
The play equipment in this play area was manufactured and installed to comply with current safety standards applying at the time of installation and all items of equipment are provided with a safer surface where required.
The play equipment and the immediate surrounding areas are inspected on a regular basis. An annual inspection is also carried out by an independent qualified organisation that prepares a safety audit and a report to enable the Council to plan long term maintenance and renewal.
Access to this site is via the good footpath network from King John Avenue with limited parking at the end of Runnymede Avenue.
