This playground was improved as part of the first year of the playbuilder project and officially opened by the Mayor of Poole on Friday 16th April 2010 - read more about Playbuilder projects.
The old climbing frame was removed and replaced by a Kompan Supernova (spinning ring), a Playdale jungle climber and a 30 metre cable way installed outside the fenced play area, a Huck buddy swing and a Proludic Gyrospiral (a spinning see-saw). New Medway Mono gates to provide better access and a complete site repainting of the old remianing equipment improved the look of the site.
Using the excavated material from the installation works and the recycling of an old beach groyne timber to form a raised bridge, the area was re-landscaped providing another play feature. This play area is suitable for children up to the age of 14.
A Streetmaster "lakeland" circular picnic table was also installed to provide and seating and eating area for families to enjoy spending more time in the area.
Five items of Proludic Cyclogym equipment have subsequently been installed during 2012 following consultation with the local residents, children and community Police Officers to provide BMX cycle riders with a small but challenging circuit to enjoy.
The play equipment in this play area was manufactured and installed to comply with current safety standards applying at the time of installation and all items of equipment are provided with a safer surface where required.
The play equipment and the immediate surrounding areas are inspected on a regular basis. An annual inspection is also carried out by an independent qualified organisation that prepares a safety audit and a report to enable the Council to plan long term maintenance and renewal.
This site is well serviced by footpaths from the surrounding estate roads on which parking is available and the site is accessible all year round.
We encourage the use of our facilities by everyone. Please let us know if you have any suggestions on how we could improve this facility for you.
