In-Year School Admissions of Looked After Children

The local authority has drawn up a Protocol for dealing with in-year applications for Looked After Children.

All applications must be made on an in-year application form. The form should be completed by the child’s Social Worker and must be accompanied by a Supplementary Information Form. Applications made by parents must include  a Supplementary Information Form that has been completed and signed by the child’s Social Worker.

It is the local authority’s aim to allocate a place to a Looked After Child at an appropriate school as quickly as possible. Any application received without a completed and signed Supplementary Information Form will be returned to the applicant. This will mean there is a delay in processing the request.

The local authority co-ordinates admissions to all Poole schools.  Applicants should contact the School Admissions Team regarding a school place for a Looked After Child.

Individual Poole schools must not be contacted directly concerning the admission of a Looked After Child.
