Our aim is to support families to enable children and young people to attend activities and for parents to be able to take a break.
All sessions are supported by experienced and friendly staff, who will ensure that all children are well cared for.
The events cater for a wide range of children and young people but some activities will not be accessible for children with particular disabilities or health conditions.
You can find out about Short Breaks activities via the Family Information Directory.
If you would like more information about the activities or want to discuss your child’s needs and how they can be best supported please contact us.
If you would like to be put on our mailing list to receive regular programmes via post, contact the Open Access Team on 01202 714700.
Short Breaks Services Statement
The Short Breaks Regulations that came into force in April 2011 require each Local Authority to publish a Short Breaks Services Statement on its website.
In their statement Local Authorities must set out:
- the range of services available
- the eligibility criteria for these services
- how the range of services is designed to meet the needs of carers
This statement will be kept under review and where appropriate revised with regard to the views of carers in the area.
You can read the Short Breaks Services Statement.
Short Breaks for Disabled Children Capital Grant
An Adult and a Children and Young People's Panel met in January to put forward recommendations on the applications received for the Grant. Following this Cabinet approved the distribution of funding for a number of projects which had to demonstrate sustainability, an improvement in quality and the range of available provision for families.
