Planning shapes the places where people live and
work and at the Borough of Poole the Planning function is undertaken across two service units. The Planning Policy and Implementation team based in Strategic Planning have responsibility for the longer term planning of the area through regional planning, production of the Local Development Framework and supporting the implementation of planning policy. For further information on this work, please view our Strategic Planning pages.Our Planning Design and Control Services (PD&CS) unit handles all applications for planning permission . This includes the enforcement of planning law, work on protecting trees, urban design, conservation notices and environmental improvement initiatives. PD&CS receives in excess of 2,200 planning applications and around 700 applications for work on protected trees every year.
