Business Continuity and Resilience

View a new version of Emergencies and tell us what you think.

Is the process through which businesses and organisations aim to continue the delivery of their key services and products during and after an emergency or significant disruption to normal activity.  Effective planning is the first line of defence for any business or organisation, to ensure that they are able to maintain their core services and (in the long run), to assure their survival.

Organisations should consider a wide range of potentially disruptive events, both internal (e.g. computer system failure) and external (e.g. severe weather).  You can begin this process by reading the section of our web pages Know the Risks and thinking about the implications of those risks and others may have on your business.

Around half of all businesses experiencing a disaster with no effective plans for recovery fail within the following 12 months.  Why not download the 10 Minute Assessment to assess how prepared your business is?
