A Poole man was given a 12 month custodial sentence for stealing over £88,000 from the public purse. He pleaded guilty at Bournemouth Crown Court following a joint working investigation with the Department for Work & Pensions, when it was established that he had failed to declare his employment for a period of over eight years.
Magistrates gave a woman a two year conditional discharge and ordered her to pay £1,500 in costs following her admission that she failed to declare additional income to the benefits service whilst claiming housing and council tax benefit. The overpaid benefit amounted to £7831.10 and is being repaid.
A woman pleaded guilty for benefit offences relating to undeclared capital resulting in nearly £19,000 being overpaid. She was sentenced to a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £1,500 in costs. Investigators established that she had hidden money in various undeclared bank accounts.
Following a joint investigation with the Department for Work & Pensions a man was sentenced to 8 months imprisonment for failing to declare wife’s employment. This resulted in benefits amounting to over £98,000 being overpaid.
Poole Magistrates Court handed down a 12 week curfew order between the hours of 8pm & 3am and ordered to pay £1,500 costs to a Poole man for failing to declare earnings to the benefits service. He pleaded guilty to being overpaid £7831.10 in benefits through his actions.
