Joining the Library

We have made it really easy for you to join the library – there are no forms to fill in, just give us your details when you come to the library, or if you prefer, fill in our application form, email it to us, and we will post you your library card.

Just download the form on this page, fill it in, save it (in the same format), then email it to jointhelibrary@poole.gov.uk . We will set up a library account for you, email your library card number and PIN to you, and post your library card to your address. If you have not received it within 5 working days, please email jointhelibrary@poole.gov.uk and tell us.

If you prefer, you can print off the form, fill it in by hand and drop it at one of our libraries. Handy tip: if you are joining a whole family, you can type the address and other details first and print off the number you require - just fill in the names by hand.

Alternatively, just call at a library and tell us your details without any form-filling.

Whichever way you join, no proof of address is required. You can use your library card at any library in Poole. When you sign on the back, you are agreeing to our terms and conditions (to see them, look at the 'Downloads' section on the right).

You will be able to borrow up to 10 items. You can also use the library computers free of charge.

Once you have your library card number you can access free online resources such as Encyclopaedia Britannica, Credo Reference, the Times Digital Archive or Newsbank at home or in the office. When asked, just enter your library card number. These are resources you would normally have to pay for, but which we have purchased for you to use.
