We are accepting applications for the 2012/13 season from 1st May 2012
Hatch Pond is now a 10 acre balancing pond situated within the Nuffield Industrial Estate, originally dug in the 19th century to supply water to the waterloo iron and brass foundry. This site is particularly ecologically diverse for such a small area and is designated a Local Nature Reserve and a Site of Nature Conservation Interest SNCI and as such this sanctuary is primarily managed for its wildlife, however the Council do permit a limited number of fishing permits (no more than 60 per annum - Day & Night permits restricted to 25).
Dug in the 1920s to supply the local pottery industry, Alder Hills fishery is a two and a half acre lake situated on the border of Bournemouth and Poole. The lake is part of Alder Hills Nature Reserve and is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) by Natural England. And as such is also primarily managed for its wildlife; however the Council also permit a limited number of fishing permits (no more than 30 per annum - Day & Night permits restricted to 10).
Both lakes are known to be "hard to fish" and due to the sites designations will not be restocked. Permits for both lakes are issued by Leisure Services (no fishing is permitted during the close season - 15 March to 15 June inclusive).
You are able to apply for a permit for either sites after the 1st May for the following season by completing the application form (on the right-hand-side of this page), clearly stating which site you require a permit for, both these sites have separate permit systems (Hatch pond permit does not cover you for Alder Hills and vice versa).
